How Many Hairs Are On Your Head?

Guest blogger: Jay

I’m not sure of the exact number, I just know the number is definitely a few less than it was ten years ago. So, if I don’t know .and it’s my head . . . if anyone else knew the exact number, they would have to be someone so close to me or so interested in me, they would know me better than I even know myself.

This Gospel shares that God knows how many hairs there are on our heads. He knows us better than we know ourselves. This is amazing to me, especially when I think of the times when I have doubted that He even knew I existed, let alone that He knew and loved me beyond comprehension.

These days, I am trying to trust Him in everything. Whereas it is so much easier for me to do so during good times, I am looking to do the same even when the storms of life are blowing. Especially when I feel like I’m in the desert of life, when my light from within feels dimmed.

Jesus speaks to us in todays Gospel (Matthew 10:24-33) as to how much He loves us . . . how we can show Him love in return . . . and what our rewards in the next life will be:

Jesus said to his Apostles:  “No disciple is above his teacher, no slave above his master. It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, for the slave that he become like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more those of his household!

“Therefore do not be afraid of them. Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known. What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light; what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s knowledge. Even all the hairs of your head are counted. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father. But whoever denies me before others, I will deny before my heavenly Father.”

In Volume Two, Jesus offers to supply our hearts with His Love to shine His Light:

"My little one, I am coming to clean every mark from your heart so that you will love freely, as I love. Do not think this is an impossible task. I am Jesus. I am God. I can cleanse your heart in no time at all if you are willing to let Me. I will restore order to your soul, I will adjust your thinking, and I will place the kind of love in your heart that is so genuine and abundant that this love reaches your eyes. All who see you will experience this love and know it is from Me."

Lay apostles, do you trust Him when he shares how much He cares about you in good times and during challenging times? Do you ever question how important you are in helping to build the Kingdom?

Thank you dear Jesus for loving me beyond what I could have ever imagined. Help me to trust You at all times and to boldly speak Your name and Your praise at all times and to never lose sight of the rewards You promise for doing so.

In gratitude and humility,
Jay
